People who don't like Red Robin are missing something. Yes its a chain - and some people bag on it because of that - but I'd put some of their highend burgers up against any burger in town. I have been to these supposedly 'gourmet' burger places and they're a rip off. You'll spend $20 on a burger that may not even come with french fries sometimes. Red Robin has bottomless fries and their burgers are top-notch. I have never had a bad meal at my Scottsdale location. Top notch loyalty program also. Oh, and they have Donatos pizza there now... one of the best mid-west style pizzas out there!

Two turkey burgers possibly spoiled. The smell was horrible. Couldn't go anything about it because they closed by the time we got them back to the hotel. Gave them two stars only because the waitress was super nice.

First time at a Red Robin. In the mood for a soup and their menu had several choices.
We waited a while before taking our order. We were at the bar side part of the restaurant which only had one guy taking the table orders and doing the bar. So Joe was not exactly too friendly, kinda of perfunctory and abrupt---a tad annoyed I would say. But he was nonetheless polite.
I ordered the soup and salad combo. I selected chicken tortilla soup. Hubby chose build your own burger which turned out to be a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, onion with no dairy products or sauces. The burger came with bottomless steak fries which were delicious.
I had to send back my soup as it was barely warm. I sent the salad back because of all the brown pieces of lettuce in it. They replaced them both. When the new server came to bring me the soup, he said be careful as it is very hot. No, it wasn't. I don't think these people know what hot soup means. Are they frightened by the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit and don't want to serve it truly hot??? I was not sending it back again. My husband's turkey burger was great along with his fries so he had no complaints.
My main complaint here is the unfriendly, perfunctory service. At one point a stocky woman came by and plunked our waters down without saying a word and stomped away-literally. Most people say : Here are your waters. There doesn't seem to be appropriate training for staff and I think it is sorely needed. -

What happened?
Frequent, frequent visitor. Seriously, at least 1X or 2X per month. And I've always argued with my wife that the Shea/101 location was superior to the others in Scottsdale.
But man, tonight's experience was just flat-out AWFUL. We were celebrating my son's second birthday, and the server acknowledged that when we sat down. My wife ordered the turkey burger, which they always get right. Kiddos had their usual Mac and cheese with chicken nuggets. Mother in law had the seafood platter. Me? I went with my usual, the southwest salad.
Extra fries ordered for the table, and out come two baskets with MAYBE seven fries each. Seriously. We immediately asked for more, knowing this wasn't going to cut it until the food came. Ten minutes later, two more small baskets with about 7-8 fries each appeared. C'mon, Red Robin! But I digress..
Anyway, my iced tea is now 3/4 gone, typically where the wait staff would appear with a refill. Come to think of it, they normally appear with refills far earlier. But not only did that not happen at this point, it never happened for the remainder of our visit! Not once.
The food arrives, and my southwest salad - the one with the jalapeño coins - had precisely FOUR on it. Seriously. I asked for more and the server, while nice, appeared a bit put out by my request, saying she'd ask the manager. Whaaa? Then my wife noticed the bun on her turkey burger was hard as a rock, and asked if it could be replaced. It was done about 5 minutes later, only to be replaced with one that was freezing cold, like it had been removed from the freezer.
By this point I'm feeling frustrated that we have to ask for things, but also embarrassed to be perceived as "those people" as well. That's when my mother in law noticed her fried fish was dark, dark brown, consistent with the fryer oil being old. She didn't point that out, but did ask our server for extra dressing for her cole slaw, as hers was bone dry. The server came back 10 minutes later with a new bowl of the same dry slaw. Ok seriously, WTF? And again, no refills for anyone - not even water!
Now, this is normally where they'd bring ice cream or some other complimentary treat and sing Happy Birthday. In our case, our server brought us the check. AND NEVER RETURNED. When taking the check, my mother in law shared with her how this was one of her favorite places but today, everything was just off. The server offered to let us speak with the manager, but at that point we didn't want to be those whiny people and get offered a 15% discount off our next check, so we politely declined.
Will we be back? Probably, but damn I hope the service is better or we won't be again. -

If you enjoy cold food and missing parts of your order, this is your spot. Having been seated by the host in a filthy table with large chunks of food in the booth and on the floor, I hoped the service and food would improve. I WAS WRONG! The food was horrible... lukewarm fries, stale vegetables, incredibly greasy burgers. (I'm not opposed to the average burger, but my burger oozed greased into the bun and was still dripping.)
The waitress was inattentive. She was forgetful and indifferent.
The manager walked around aimlessly. In the end he was called back over and apologized. But I won't be going back to this location.
